With unemployment rising faster than the space shuttle on take off, with commerce in the tank at auto dealerships, restaurants and retail outlets, some government bodies are now talking about raising taxes. Good grief! Higher gas taxes and property taxes are the targets for generating more income. Yeah, like that's going to work.
This is the type of thinking that caused the Great Depression. Because government is inefficient and hiring more people than it needs, the rest of the economy and the suckers that voted these idiots into office now have to pick up the tab for more government frivolity. This is coming on the heels of higher unemployment, no raises and higher food costs (which were caused by high gas prices, and are not going down now when fuel prices have gone down), and it makes about as much sense as a homeless family, without an income, buying a motor home because it's being sold at fire sale prices.
This is logical to these government types because the price of a gallon of gas has gone down, so how painful can 2 to 4 cents a gallon be when the price was as high as $4 a pop? Uh, the impact of these taxes will be felt when the economy might recover. Those people that think oil is in the tank from now on are suffering delusions. This scenario happened in the '70's when there were gas lines and the prices were going up. "We have to create alternate sources of energy." Yeah, right. It didn't happen on a scale that it should have happened.
When the threat of alternative energy peeked its head over the horizon like Kilroy, the price and supply of oil suddenly changed. Everybody was happy and continued to live the la la dream of utopia. Guess what? History does repeat itself. The scenario in the '70's was long enough ago that most of the people today have no clue about it, and it's like, man that was so long ago, it can't happen again.
And remember, Obama was only 8 years old when Bill Ayers was doing his bombing thing, so it is ok for him to be an associate today, and likewise, he was only 13 when the gas lines were prevalent throughout the country. So he won't remember this, and he isn't aware of the ramifications, so he will end the prospect of drilling for oil when he takes office. Happy days will soon be here again.
