Will an average Joe and Jane ever get ahead in hard times? It makes you wonder. Just when you think the last increase coming down the pike has arrived, there's another notice that something else is going to increase.
Just got my notice yesterday that it is likely our water and sewer bill is going up. Remember my note about an investment in water and sewer treatment.
Ok, so let's start adding up the annual increases in expenses. The property taxes are going up, even though the property value stated is way over actual value. A new tax will soon be added for school repairs (which should never have been allowed to happen) and new schools. A new road repair tax. A water and sewer increase. And our illustrious Governor is talking about more gas taxes and vehicle taxes for state road repairs.
One reason these increases occur is because of mismanagement. And when it gets so bad, the people causing it aren't fired. They just get a PR firm to justify the cause to raise more taxes and fees. Until these inept people are held accountable, it will continue year after year. You don't have to look any further than Wall Street, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and the government to see the mismanagement.
Are you getting the idea that some people have no concept of how they are impacting the lives of people? There have already been complaints by many seniors that they can't cope with the increases in taxes and fees. The expenses are going up faster than any cost of living increases.
On top of this, it appears the number of people and children going hungry in the U.S. has increased. Don't be too surprised when the increases outlined above cause more people to go hungry as well.
And when oil prices start going back up, that will cause another increase in expenses and hardship for many and the economy. Oh well, I guess it will never end.
A possible solution? A worthwhile business of your own.
